While Jann Arden is killing the prime time comedy game with Jann (Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CTV), she also doesn’t want you to forget where she started—as a talented ballad singer. She joined fellow Canadian artist Scott Hellman in Calgary this week to record a cover of The Cure’s 1989 hit, “Lovesong” and let’s just say, it sounds like it was written for her.

How does someone sound so powerful, professional and polished while sitting perched on a hotel bed? We may never know but Jann has totally nailed it. And her fans know it. Instead of the usual toxicity seen in YouTube comments, the vibe of the comments on the video has actually been quite positive.

“Legandary Canadian Singer + on his way to legendary singer = goosebumps,” is a telling sample that makes us smile.

“Who doesn’t love Jann Arden? ICON. Also, Scott has such a nice voice and I love watching how he performs. He’s adorable,” wrote another.

She joined Hellman for episode five of his “Hotel Sessions” series, where he travels around the world singing with musicians in hotel rooms. His last video featured Alessia Cara singing “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston.
