Singer-songwriter, author, sometimes co-host and now actress. Is there anything Jann Arden can’t do?
Our favourite multi-platinum award-winning Canadian singer (and friend) is the star of a brand new original comedy series called Jann (Wednesday’s at 8:30pm ET on CTV). In the show, Jann plays an absurdly exaggerated, fictionalized version of herself while searching for renewed fame after the realization of a waning career; while still having to deal with the stresses and obligations of her real life.
Filmed in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta, the show hilariously explores various scenarios as Jann attempts to rocket launch back into the spotlight, touching on real life past experiences of Jann’s “but in a much more extreme and ridiculous way,” according to Jann herself.
While this six-part series isn’t Jann’s first acting gig (you may have seen her guest appearances in Workin’ Moms and Corner Gas), the experience has definitely given her a new appreciation of what goes into putting a television series together.
We caught up with Jann to talk about this exciting new chapter, why representation in the show was so important to her, and what makes TV Jann different from real-life Jann. Watch the full interview in the video clip above.
