'Jann' season two is coming this fall with a bunch of celebrity friends along for the ride

Canada’s number one new comedy Jann is gearing up for a second season, and in case you couldn’t tell from the promos circulating right now touting her No. 1 status, Jann Arden is pretty pumped. And now fans will be too because CTV has officially confirmed the new premiere date.The broadcaster revealed that the second season will kick off Monday, September 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, hitting CTV airwaves and everywhere else CTV content can be found to deliver more of that self-deprecating Jann Arden humour that critics and viewers alike found so endearing in season one.The second, eight-episode season of Jann picks up where season one left off, with Jann making a decision about her tour in the face of her mother’s (Deborah Grover) memory loss and her sister (Zoie Palmer) being put on bed rest during a high-risk pregnancy. This season, she’ll have to face the repercussions of her choice when she learns that not everyone was happy about it. We'll be paying close attention as the singer sets out to win her family and ex-girlfriend Cynthia (Sharon Taylor) back, all while Jann and her new manager Cale (Elena Juatco) struggle to see eye-to-eye on which gigs she should take. And fans everywhere can also look forward to some new and old musical friends, as Jann welcomes all kinds of new guest stars.

According to the powers that be (i.e. the official press release from CTV), some of those guest stars include Sarah McLachlan (featured in the S2 premiere) and k.d. lang, who both play heightened versions of themselves. Meanwhile, Elisha Cuthbert plays school board parent Liz, Keshia Chanté plays an up-and-coming singer named Nia Taylor, Miguel Rivas (The Beaverton) stars as a Jann mega-fan, and real-life The Social  co-host Cynthia Loyst plays a fictional local TV talk show host.Returning for the second season are Zoie Palmer as Jann’s sister Max, Deborah Grover as Jann’s mom Nora, Patrick Gilmore as Jann's brother-in-law Dave, Jason Blicker as Jann’s former manager Todd, and Alexa Rose Steele, Ceilidh MacDonald and Keaira Pliva as Jann’s respective nieces Charley, Sammie, and Frankie.[video_embed id='1892648']RELATED: Here's what Jann Arden would say if she slid into Ryan Reynolds' DMs [/video_embed]“Viewers have been waiting, and we’re delighted to return Jann to the schedule to anchor CTV Mondays and kick off our fall schedule,” said Bell Media programming boss Mike Cosentino in a release. “Jann and her team have delivered another must-see season, filled with guest stars and surprises that we can't wait to unveil."Along with the new season, fans can look forward to a plethora of BTS content (behind the scenes, not the adorable Korean boy band) including "Inside the Episode" segments, bloopers, outtakes and other featurettes that will be shared on CTV.ca and CTV's social accounts as the season airs. When the six-episode first season debuted last year, it became the most-watched new Canadian comedy series of the 2018-19 broadcast season.
