Jay Baruchel and Rebecca-Jo Dunham never hid their relationship nor their plans to get married. In fact, they've been quite upfront about their plans. During their recent trip to Portugal, the actor gave fans a heads-up on their wedding — and he and Rebecca-Jo didn't disappoint."Today, Random Acts of Violence gets its world premiere @fantasticfest and I couldn't be prouder," he
tweeted on Friday. "I am not there in person because I am in Portugal, about to get married. Literally the only thing that could keep me from being there. I love this film and really hope you do too." It wasn't the first time Baruchel alerted fans of his plans to hitch his horse to her wagon. Six weeks ago he
shared an adorable photo and noted what a "lucky lad" he was to soon be her husband.Also prior to the wedding, Dunham
posted a pic of herself in Lisbon, but the caption wasn't all hearts and rainbows. She admitted that while it hasn't been "the most perfect time," (her mother had to be hospitalized and put on bed rest) she and Jay still had "the best time with one of my families and are feeling very grateful for all the memories, good and bad." She added: "I'm so excited to see the rest of our families and to reunite with friends from all over the world. Despite the hiccups we are so so so so so so thrilled to get married this weekend (send us all your positive vibes to stop the forecasted rain) marrying my ride or die!"Thankfully, things got better. On Sunday, Dunham posted a pic of the two of them exchanging vows, and it's evident from the caption that things improved significantly from the earlier days of their trip. "When people say their wedding is the best night of their life, that's an understatement. Having all the people who I love most in the same place to celebrate love is the most magical thing you can experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who made yesterday what it was and who came to celebrate with us." Baruchel posted the same pic but kept his note much more succinct.
The Canadian couple were also more than happy to share their engagement news. The
How to Train Your Dragon star proposed to the Montreal-based model in May 2018,
captioning a selfie with, "Love of my life" and added heart and ring emojis. Dunham, on the other hand, wanted to share a pic of her ring, and the photo of Baruchel holding her hand was perfection.
