Gonna party like it’s 1999

It may be Jennifer Aniston‘s birthday today but on Saturday, her friends, including the usual suspects Ellen DeGeneres, Reese Witherspoon, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Arquette, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, Laura Dern, Robert Downey Jr. and the Clooneys, got together to celebrate her big 5-0, and there was one guest who may have surprised everyone: Jen’s first husband, Brad Pitt.

According to People, Pitt arrived at L.A.’s Sunset Tower Hotel like it was NBD but, come onnnnn.

NBC

A source insisted that while Jen was “very happy that he showed up,” Brad was just another guest and she “didn’t really pay any attention” to him.

“They hugged and chatted for a bit, but Jen was busy making sure all of her other guests had an amazing time,” revealed the insider, who added, “Basically, every single person who loves Jen attended. This included Brad. The party was a celebration of Jen’s life. Brad, for long, was a very important part of Jen’s life. She debated back and forth with friends if she should invite him.”

Pitt wasn’t the only Ani ex at the party. John Mayer was there, as well as his ex, Katy Perry, and her current boyfriend, Orlando Bloom. And Pitt’s ex, Gwyneth Paltrow, also attended so if you thought this was the cast of a ’90s rom-com, you wouldn’t be far off.

While it’s never going to happen, it’s fun to imagine if, somehow, in some way, Jen and Brad found their way back to one another, finding love again after their recent breakups. Now that’s a romantic storyline right there.

Prince Philip gave up his driver’s license

The Duke of Edinburgh retired from official royal duties in 2017 and on Saturday, it was announced that Philip would retire from driving.

It was less than a month ago that Philip collided with another car while driving near Sandringham. While the 97-year-old came out of it unscathed, two people in the other car sustained minor injuries, including a broken wrist.

Emma Fairweather, who broke her wrist in the crash and required surgery, told the Mirror that Philip’s decision was “the right thing to do” but added that it was a “shame he didn’t make the decision sooner.”

Us Weekly reports that prosecutors will consider Philip’s decision as they decide whether to charge him in the crash. For now, he waits. Though those who drive in the Sandringham area are probably breathing a sigh of relief.

Ellen Page is coming for Chris Pratt and his church

We’ve come to know, based on his Instagram posts and engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger, that Chris Pratt is quite a religious man. He appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and along with promoting the latest Lego movie, Pratt also talked about his beliefs and his latest Bible diet, which was inspired by his pastor.

But Ellen Page, who is an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ community, didn’t love all the church talk in Chris’ interview — and called him out on it.

And Page wasn’t done. After having a day or so to sit on it (and likely sift through the comments from her original tweet), she continued.

Pratt’s church is Hillsong (a church that reportedly supports gay conversion therapy); if that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s also where Justin and Hailey Bieber attend service. When they’re not living it up in Canada, that is.

Chris has yet to respond, and we’re not sure if he will, but it would be nice to hear his thoughts on everything Ellen said. Also, if Ellen can continue to passionately rattle cages, we’re OK with that too.

There’s gonna be a sequel to that Harry and Meghan movie, wheeeeeeeee!

Lifetime’s movie, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, was a surprise hit, so naturally the network announced that there’s going to be a sequel.

Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal will focus on the current chapter of their lives as a recently married couple. Oooh, we can’t wait to see how they’re going to film the goings-on inside Kensington Palace and examine all the supposed feuding.

Sadly, though, the roles of Harry and Meghan will be recast, as the original stars, Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henley, “are not available.” Ugh. That’s a big mistake right there. Lifetime should’ve found a way to align the stars once again and schedule it when they could all make it work.

The roles have yet to be filled, but production is set to begin later this month in Vancouver, and the movie will air later this year. It may be a new cast but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to watch it. Heck, we’ll be waiting with popcorn.

Spike Lee won’t be casting Liam Neeson anytime soon

Last week, Liam Neeson opened up about a revenge tale from his early days, one that sounded like the plot of an incredibly awful, incredibly racist action movie from decades prior. Spike Lee had some thoughts on Neeson’s interview and he’s just as baffled as the rest of us.

“What a crazy, bizarre world we live in,” the BlacKKKlansman director said on The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday. “I’ve not spoken to Liam. I don’t know why he did it, but he did it, so … ”

Lee added: “I know he’s Catholic. Is this a form of confession?”

When Spike was asked if he would cast Neeson now, the director admitted he actually wanted Liam for an earlier project but the movie has yet to be made due to financial reasons. But if it were to happen, the 66-year-old actor no longer fits the role.

“I don’t think I’ll be going back to him,” Lee said. “He’s too old now. That was a long time ago. It’s bad all around.” Truer words were never spoken.
