Friends are always there for us, even when no one told us life was gonna be this way (clap clap clap clap). Friends would never lie to us or tease us with information that wasn’t true and all we want is for our favourite gang of Friends by the names of Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey, and Regina Phalange—ahem, we mean, Pheebs—to get back together. Well, it looks like we just got DIRECT CONFIRMATION that a reunion is, in fact, happening.

No, we promise this isn’t like every other monthly false alarm that a new Friends reboot is in the works. Like 90210 and Full House—this is REAL (we really, really hope).

Tuesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the bespectacled host insisted Jennifer Aniston clear the air about THAT Instagram post and announce once and for all what the dealio was. “People are always clamouring for a reunion,” he said with a knowing grin, “And the other day on Ellen, you actually made some noises—you said this might be happening.”

“I said something is happening,” she said cryptically.

But Colbert, bless his tenacious soul, wouldn’t let it drop. “So you can confirm that something is happening?”

“Something is happening,” she said to massive cheers from the Ed Sullivan Theatre. “But we don’t know what that something is!” she qualified.

That sounds like hope for Friends fans. Maybe we aren’t stuck in second gear! Maybe this could be our day, our week, our month, or even—please, just let us have this!

That was all the star would say on the matter, and while we all rack our brains trying to imagine what that “something” might be, at least we have Jen’s stellar fashion to also keep us occupied (because the woman is as much of a style icon as her onscreen counterpart). Colbert made a point of getting up from his seat to draw attention to Jennifer’s sleek black strapless dress which she demonstrated has a detachable section of skirt that can be converted into a cape. “You’re a superhero!” he exclaimed as she flaunted the cape.

Not all heroes wear capes, but if this reunion happens, then this hero absolutely does.
