Jenny McCarthy has a long rap sheet of being in the eye of the media; from being a Playboy model, to MTV host and cohost on The View. This is where she met Barbara Walters and where her candid tell-all takes place.
Jenny had been a fan of Barbara for years before they even met, but her idealization of the media mogul was shattered on their first meeting when Jenny appeared on the show in 2007. At the time, Jenny was promoting her book Louder than Words: A Mother’s Journey in Healing Autism, which lead her to make a stop at The View as a part of her press tour.
But what she reports happened backstage before her appearance is kind of surprising. (Gossip lovers, rejoice!)
The 46 year-old author and actress says that, before the show, Barbara asked to speak with her in her dressing room. Jenny says Barbara blew up at her before her appearance, leaving Jenny obviously shaken. Yikes.
Fast forward to 2013 and Jenny is hired as the new cohost on The View, replacing Elisabeth Hasselback. But after a year, Jenny couldn’t handle continuing on the show and left in 2014.
“It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business,” she said. “I’ve never seen a woman yell like that before until I worked with Barbara Walters.”
Jenny relays her full experience in the upcoming book Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View by Ramin Setoodeh. We’re not sure what this means for Jenny McCarthy, or The View for that matter, but we’re sure keeping our ear to the ground on this one.
