It was exactly one week ago that we learned the not-so-surprising news of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux‘s split, putting Jen one step closer to Ross Geller in the divorce department. The reports immediately following their announcement have been pretty unanimous: Justin loves New York, Jen loves L.A. and neither was ready to give that up for the other. But you know that wasn’t going to be the end of it, not even close.
Since it’s a story about Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt‘s name was bound to come up. Even though it’s been two decades since he and Jen first started dating and they ended things a dozen years ago, people still want to put Brad and Jen together. So Us Weekly found a way. According to their source, Justin came across some love notes a couple of years ago that never quite sat right with him.
“He stumbled upon old Post-it notes Brad had written,” said the insider. “Sweet little Post-its like, ‘You looked nice tonight’ or ‘Miss you already.'” And even though “Jen assured him they weren’t a big deal,” the damage was done.
“Justin wasn’t thrilled,” added the source. “Justin had moments of insecurity like that.”
Page Six reports the love letters “sparked much laughter in the Theroux camp,” saying it “sounds like it was dreamed up by an eighth grader.” Which, truth be told, it totally does. But we want to believe; maybe because we may have saved some old love letters in a shoe box at the back of our closet, maybe not.
The Brad and Jen stories are only to come more fast and furiously before they taper off. In Touch has a source who claims that Brad and Jen have been having “secret sleepovers.” Now, considering Jen and Justin’s marriage was supposedly hunky-dory less than a week before they confirmed their separation, it’s already a bit much. And we’re only a week in, so expect, well, the expected. Bring on the “Jen wants babies” and “Jen would rock the role of the Jolie-Pitt kids’ stepmom” storylines. Insert all the eye rolls here, but we also love it.
Fingers crossed that Brad and Jen somehow cross paths at the Oscars. And that there are cameras nearby.
