Paging Dr. Jackson Avery! Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams just landed his next big gig, joining the cast of the upcoming limited series Little Fires Everywhere.

If the title sounds familiar, it should — the series is based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestselling novel of the same name, and already has a ton of star-power behind it. Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, Rosemarie DeWitt and Joshua Jackson are just a few of the previously announced cast, with Witherspoon and Washington also set to executive produce.

Set in an Ohio suburb, the series will follow the picture-perfect Richardson family and a mother-daughter duo who arrive to town and turn the Richardson’s lives upside down. The TV drama will explore the themes of secrets, the nature of art and identity, and motherhood. And pssst — spoiler alert (or not, based on the title) — it also involves arson.

Williams has signed on for the recurring role of Joe Ryan, a rich Wall Streeter with some family drama of his own. After struggling to conceive for years, and desperate to start their family, Joe and his wife Madeline turn to an unlikely source for help.

Little Fires Everywhere marks the first time we’ll see Williams, Witherspoon, and Washington working on the same TV project together — and hopefully not the last. It’s safe to say both Witherspoon and Washingston are equally excited to bring the book adaptation to life, as the pair took to their own social media accounts to announce the project earlier this summer.

Little Fires Everywhere comes as the newest addition to Williams’ list of upcoming roles. The actor is also expected to make his way to Broadway with a role in the revival of Richard Greenberg’s Tony-winning play Take Me Out.

While we’re all for more Jesse Williams on our screens (and stages), we can’t help but wonder — where does this leave his character on Grey’s Anatomy? After 10 years of Dr. Jackson Avery, we don’t think our heartstrings could take an unexpected exit.

The good news is Williams did just sign another two-year contract for the show back in June, so it looks like Jackson won’t be taking any last-minute transfers… for now.

Catch Jesse Williams in Grey’s Anatomy on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CTV.
