Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t joking around much during his monologue last night. The late night host gave his two cents about the heavily publicized incident involving Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who illegally slaughtered Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe earlier this month.

Kimmel went on a five minute emotionally charged rant conveying his disgust for Palmer’s actions in slaying the beloved 13-year-old lion and expressed how we’ve all been feeling inside about the appalling incident.

Like us, Kimmel couldn’t wrap his head around the appeal of paying people to artificially bait and lure a lion out of his national park home to behead him for a mantle prize.

“Is it that difficult for you to get an erection? That you need to kill things that are stronger than you?”

A truly touching moment came near the end of the monologue when Kimmel advised us that we shouldn’t turn this into a witch hunt against Palmer and that we should allow him and the men who lured Cecil to be punished lawfully. While tearing up, Kimmel encouraged the public to turn this into something positive by making donations to Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, the group that had been studying and tracking Cecil.

Jimmy isn’t the only celeb that has spoken out against Walter Palmer. Known animal lovers Ricky Gervais, Alyssa Milano and Christie Brinkley are among scores of others who have taken to social media to speak out about the incident:
