Jennifer Lopez is once again being honoured for her incredible contributions to… well, life. This time it’s the WSJ. Magazine that’s feting the “Jenny From the Block” singer, naming her the pop culture innovator of the year.People confirmed the news on November 9, revealing that the honour will be bestowed upon JLo during a virtual celebration this week. Columbian singer Maluma will give Lopez the award during the presentation, as the magazine celebrates 10 years of innovation. “I'm grateful for all the hard work and sacrifice she's made over the years and for paving the way for so many other Latin artists,” the 26-year-old, who has collaborated with Lopez on “Pa’Ti” and “Lonely,” says in the presentation, as per the publication.“Her creativity, her passion, the perfection she brings to the studio, and on set is the reason she's a superstar and the reason I'm proud to present this award," the 26-year-old adds. The publication also got wind of Lopez’s acceptance speech, and according to her she’s not giving up on trying to make her corner of the world a better place anytime soon. “Until the world is 100 per cent perfect and completely fixed I will never be done,” Lopez reportedly says. “Every day I'm trying to be a better version of myself.”[video_embed id='2058271']RELATED: How does Jennifer Lopez still look so good?[/video_embed]Lopez and Maluma won’t be the only nominees and presenters on hand during the November 11 presentation. Other celebrities expected to stop by (virtually) include director Ava DuVernay, BTS, James Corden, Ethan Hawke, Michaela Coel, Taraji P. Henson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Patti Smith and Tyler Perry. The annual WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards honours “thinkers and entertainers” whose contributions across design, fashion, architecture, humanitarianism, art, and technology have had a major impact on the world. The awards began 10 years ago as an extension of the magazine’s special November Innovators issue and are typically held at the New York City Museum of Modern Art. This year, however, with the pandemic, they’re online like so many other celebrations and awards shows. Last year Julianne Moore, Eddie Murphy and Tyler the Creator were among the honourees.“2020 has been a season of new challenges and opportunities. One reason I'm so excited about this year's Innovators is because they've all risen to meet the moment with empathy and a sense of purpose,” the magazine’s editor, Kristina O’Neill, told People in a statement. “That we're able to share their stories with a global audience in our first-ever all-virtual presentation feels especially fitting given the hope and admiration these extraordinary people inspire.”For fans hoping to get a glimpse of the action on Wednesday night, they can register online now.[video_embed id='2073101']Before you go: BTS, Lady Gaga win big at the MTV EMAs[/video_embed]
