It's no secret that when it comes to songwriting, Taylor Swift is inspired by her life — specifically her love life. And why not? All the emotions that come with being in a relationship, whether it's pure joy and happiness or "WTF, oh no you didn't", those are the kinds of the things that make a great song. And Tay obviously has the tracks to prove it. Just ask Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Harry Styles or Calvin Harris.Unlike her past relationships, Swift and current boyfriend Joe Alwyn have kept things as low-profile as possible. They don't talk about each other, they're rarely photographed together, they've never appeared on a red carpet at the same time, and they don't share photos of one another on social media. It's like Relationship Fight Club. But during an interview with The Times, Alwyn had a bit of a slip. While promoting his miniseries A Christmas Carol, in which Joe plays Bob Cratchit to Guy Pearce's Scrooge, Alwyn was asked if he minded Swift "dedicating entire love songs to him" — and he actually answered. "No, not at all," he shared. "No, it's flattering."Alwyn told the Times that "99.9 percent of what the press write about [us] is false," like the story about Taylor owning a private jet that she uses to fly out to visit Joe whenever she wants to see him. Not true. What is true is that he, for the most part, ignores what is written about them. "I just don't pay attention to what I don't want to pay attention to," he said simply. "I turn everything else down on a dial. I don't have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that's this, and that's what I am doing."

Joe's clearly got a good head on his shoulders — and it's exactly what Taylor needs. This latest interview might be the first time Joe's ever spoken about her. And the only time we can recall Swift mentioning Alwyn was when she teamed up with Olivia Colman to surprise actor Shaun Dooley, who was covering one of her songs for a charity album. Dooley asked Swift how he knew about it and she revealed that Colman "texted my boyfriend," who co-starred with her in The Favourite. Taylor and Joe reportedly met at the Met Gala — if we're to believe her song "Dress" from her album Reputation is about him — but, frankly, no one except them know for sure. Reports of a relationship began to emerge, particularly when Tay revealed to fans that "Gorgeous" was all about Joe. Then they were caught cuddling at an Ed Sheeran concert and, well, the cat was out of the bag.But they're still keeping it on the DL, likely because Alwyn is super-private and only likes to talk about work, and maybe that's rubbed off on Swift. Or perhaps she's simply learned to stop sharing that part of her life because she gets nothing but flack for it anyway. There was hope that the two would make their red carpet debut at the NYC premiere of Cats but, nope. Joe was there to show his support and the two were spotted together afterwards, though, so that's something. Perhaps they'll walk the carpet at the London premiere? For now, we'll just have to keep listening to Swift's albums. Reputation may have documented the early stages of their romance but it's Lover that is all about her and Joe falling more and more head over heels for each other. That'll be enough — for now.
