Alison Brie and Dave Franco are easily one of Hollywood’s coolest couples. Equally so, they’re also one of Hollywood’s most private couples—they kept their relationship under wraps for years before announcing their engagement in 2015. That’s an incredibly impressive feat for any famous couple, but the secrecy only makes us want to know more. Thankfully Joel McHale and Betty Gilpin came in with the hot goss on Wednesday night’s The Late Late Show with James Corden (weekdays at 12:37 a.m. ET).

And by “hot goss” we mean, “stuff we could have guessed but it’s more fun when Joel McHale says it.” Joel, who worked with Brie on Community, and Gilpin, who currently works with Brie on GLOW, shared that the couple is exactly as incredible as they seem.

“Here’s the thing about Alison Brie and her husband Dave Franco: they’re ugly,” McHale—king of sarcasm—said. “They shouldn’t be as cool as they are beautiful. I hate it. They’re so attractive, so nice, it makes me want to hurt them,” he concluded, and we honestly can’t relate more (though maybe with a little less anger and a dash more fangirl). Gilpin added that Brie is so sweet she won’t even say a bad word about her time working with McHale (something he attributes to her being “super high”).

So here’s what we know about Alison and Dave; they met in 2011 at Mardi Gras (love it) after being introduced by a mutual friend. They’re also pet parents to two adorable cats, Harry and Arturo, who turned out to be the make-or-break for their relationship. Self-described “quirky cat guy” Franco told Jimmy Fallon a couple years back that Alison’s love for his cats is what made her “the only option [for marriage].” We don’t know about you, but that sounds like fate to us.

Alison seems to think so too. Speaking to The Sunday Times after their wedding in 2017, she shared, “We just like to hang out. Having a really supportive partner in my life and knowing that he loves me no matter what. I’ve found my person.” Okay, who’s cutting onions??

While we would looove to hear all the juicy details about celeb relationships… we’re almost strangely happy that we don’t know more about Davison (can we call them that?). They’re just two people in love. And the fact that they never used their love story to gain publicity—that’s pretty freaking cool if you ask us.
