As most people in the entertainment industry know (or as anyone who ever watched 30 Rock could tell you), getting an EGOT is kind of a big deal. That’s the big kahuna of performing awards, as it means you’ve won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. It’s a pretty hard feat to accomplish, and only a dozen celebrities have ever done it.

Well now that John Legend was nominated for two Emmys for his performance in Jesus Christ Superstar, he may join that elusive 12-member club, which includes people like Rita Moreno, Mel Gibson, Whoopi Goldberg and Audrey Hepburn.

We mean, that’s pretty cool, right? Well one person didn’t seem too impressed by the news, and that certain someone was none other than Legend’s father-in-law Ron Teigen. Apparently when Chrissy Teigen text messaged her pops to share the news, he reacted in the most typical dad way possible — by completely ignoring his daughter’s announcement and focusing on something else.

See? Typical dad (or mom!) reaction if we ever saw one. That’s probably why Teigen chose to share the message on social media — it is kind of funny. Apparently plenty of Teigen’s followers thought so too, because they starting chiming in with their own stories and giving love to Ron’s reaction.

At this point, we’re just eagerly awaiting Ron’s reply to the actual news. Since the original post Teigen has sent her dad follow up message, but so far it’s still just silence.

While we all wait, at least we know how Legend feels about it all: “It’s pretty fulfilling to find out our show is nominated so many times, 13 times, and particularly for me as an actor, which is not something I do normally as a day job. To even be nominated among such a formidable group of actors, that’s pretty incredible,” he told Good Morning America. “It feels good to be on the brink [of an EGOT]. Even if it doesn’t happen this year, if we do more on TV, it could happen another time, but this is probably the best shot I’ll have for a while. My fingers are crossed and if it happens, I’m very excited about the possibility.”

Teigen’s obviously also excited, as are we. And if Ron ever gets his butt in gear, we’d wager he’s pretty jazzed too.

We’ll all find out if EGOT gets a lucky 13th member on Sept. 17, when the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards air on CTV.
