Well Canada, Election Day has finally arrived, and it turns out both John Oliver and Mike Myers know exactly who you should vote for.
Over the weekend, the late-night comedy host offered us a little perspective about our election from across the border, referring to the race as a “Canadian three-way,” where are the people involved “apologize to each other so hard they all climax.”
It’s funny, because he’s actually not wrong. The campaign trail has been loaded with all sorts of regret, from former Conservative MP Jerry Bance resigning after he was caught peeing in a mug, to Tim Dutaud pretending to orgasm in prank phone calls. These are the kinds of zany, quirky scandals that could only happen in Canada.
But Oliver had some choice words for candidates across all spectrums. NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair was compared to “Paul Giamatti’s uncle reading a rhyming dictionary,” Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau was thought to look like “Johnny Depp’s evil twin” while Oliver seemed to be convinced that Conservative Leader Stephen Harper was actually “an alien in disguise.”
In the lead-up to announcing his big endorsement, Oliver brought out Canadian actor Mike Myers to make it all official. Needless to say, things got real pretty fast:
