Johnny vs. Amber, Round 259

If you thought that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s divorce was just a messy thing of the past, prepare to be annoyed yet again. Depp has decided to sue his ex-wife for $50 million. His claims? Defamation, for one. And also that her domestic abuse claims were “an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity” and “advance her career.”

If you recall, Amber and Johnny split in 2016 and eventually came to a settlement of $7 million — money that she didn’t plan to keep, but would give to two charities. Johnny delayed paying that for months and months, but it eventually got squared away. Part of their agreement was that Amber wouldn’t speak of their relationship and the alleged abuse she endured during the marriage, and while the actress has never named names, she has spoken up about domestic abuse since. That takes us to today. If you’re wondering why this latest lawsuit is happening, The Blast reports that Depp has a problem with an article Heard penned for The Washington Post this past December. Hmm, right around the time her movie Aquaman was steamrolling everything in theatres — including the Fantastic Beasts sequel, in which Depp co-stars.

“Ms. Heard purported to write from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’ and claimed that she ‘felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out,’ when she ‘spoke up against sexual violence,'” the court docs read.

Depp’s lawsuit, on the other hand, takes the stance that Amber attacked him and that “Ms. Heard is not a victim of domestic abuse; she is a perpetrator.”

The suit also alleges that Amber was having an affair with Elon Musk. Musk’s rep denied it, saying they didn’t start seeing each other until after Depp and Heard split, “and even then it was infrequent. Their relationship didn’t become romantic until some time later.”

Heard’s attorney released a statement to People that read, “This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard. She will not be silenced. Mr. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behavior. But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team.”

Strong words. Let the battle begin. Again.

Khloe finally saw the light, blamed loser Tristan, not Jordyn, for their breakup

When it comes to infidelity, it bugs us to no end when the wrong person gets the blame. In Jordyn Woods‘ interview on Red Table Talk on Friday, she said that she is not the reason Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are no longer together. That didn’t sit well with Khloe, who lost it on Twitter, adding, “BTW, You ARE the reason my family broke up!”

But after another ill-advised tweet, common sense got the better of Kardashian and she admitted she shouldn’t have blamed the 21-year-old for her family situation.

Thankfully, Khloe has come to her senses and stopped picking on her little sister’s (former?) BFF. Hopefully this all works itself out, with Tristan kicking rocks (except when it comes to his and Khloe’s daughter). This tweet pretty much sums it up. Boy, bye.

Samantha Markle spoke about Meghan in a documentary and the results were predictably awful

Things with Duchess Meghan and the Markle side of her family haven’t been good since she became a member of the BRF. Hell, before then, even. But it turns out Prince Harry might have some role in the family’s feuding. If you remember, Harry spoke about Meghan spending Christmas with the royals at Sandringham, telling BBC Radio 4 in 2017, “It’s the family I suppose she’s never had.” The Markles didn’t like it, and in a documentary that aired in the U.K. titled Meghan and the Markles: A Family at War, Samantha made sure to bring it up.

“The first thing I thought was I don’t think Harry has been given the full story,” she said in the doc. “Something was not right. Though we weren’t the classic family together on schedule for every holiday, we were family.”

She continued: “Then we questioned why — why would she be embarrassed about her family, why would you need to set the stage differently. It was starting to feel like she wasn’t reaching out to the family.”

Samantha also accused Meghan of being a cruel monster, saying of their shared father, “She doesn’t have a heart or she would been doing everything she could to make him comfortable, and reciprocate, and be loving and gracious, and make sure he’s comfortable in his old age.”

She added, referring to the letter Meghan wrote to Thomas, “So ‘broken heart’? No, his heart’s broken. She can’t turn herself into the victim here.”

Thankfully, people weren’t buying what Samantha was shilling, though. Phew!

Ian McKellen apologized for comments he made about Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer

Ian McKellen was a guest on the QueerAF podcast last week and spoke about Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer, two men he has worked with in the past. During the sit-down, the actor said that if Spacey and Singer had “been able to be open about themselves and their desires, they wouldn’t have started abusing people in the way they’re being accused.” Oh, dear.

Um. No. That’s not how it works. Spacey being in the closet has absolutely zero to do with his predatory tendencies. Same goes for Singer. Well, McKellen decided to clarify his comments — but only after we’ve had a week to digest them.

Fine, it’s a good apology, but disappointing nonetheless.

Oh no, Amanda Bynes is in rehab again

Amanda Bynes seemed to be doing well and getting her life back on track, but she’s hit a bit of a rough patch. If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard from or about her in a while, it’s because she’s getting treatment.

TMZ reports the pressure of being back in the public eye, including her Paper cover and feature in November, was a lot for her to handle and she relapsed. Bynes has been getting some help and treatment from both mental health professionals and addiction counsellors since January.

“I have no fear of the future,” she told Paper. “I’ve been through the worst and came out the other end and survived it so I just feel like it’s only up from here.” Here’s hoping she comes out of this healthier than ever.
