The latest celeb to go meatless is NKOTB’s Jonathan Knight. And the result of this choice—a loss of 21 lbs, without a change in exercise regimen—has us questioning our second serving of breakfast bacon.
On a recent vacay to Southeast Asia, the pop star stepped on a scale for the first time in a while and saw 209 lbs, his heaviest weight yet. And though his stature has never truly been an issue for him, often playfully referring to himself as “the fat New Kid,” he was discouraged to see such a high number.
“The other guys are in such good shape,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Out of all of them, I’ve become the most chubby, which is funny because the gay stereotype is all muscles and being trim.” While filming the reality TV show Rock This Boat, he and his co-stars would often find themselves going shirtless, leaving little question as to who was taking care of their bod and who wasn’t.
The decision to go meatless wasn’t just because of his creeping weight, either. Knight had previously complained to his doctor about bloating and often feeling “really nasty” after he ate, but was not given any diagnosis. His life on his Massachusetts farm also gave him insight into the ways animals are raised and processed, which certainly didn’t leave him craving steak for dinner.
Been having a great experience not eating meat this month. These carrot sliders taste better than any ground up no longer “productive” dairy cow forced to give her milk and offspring to satiate our palates! Cooking at home is still a work in progress though 😂 Thank goodness for NYC restaurants

“Just seeing how animals are raised and the slaughterhouses freaked me out. I had never thought too much about where meat comes from and was like, ‘This is not right.'” Knight said.
After dropping the carnivorous habit for seven months, he’s down 21 lbs, the bloating is gone, and his conscience is clear. He’s looking seriously fit! Props to him. Even Knight’s partner, fitness trainer Harley Rodriguez, has switched to vegetarianism. (It always helps when your partner is on board with your diet, right?)
Knight’s new favourite meal: vegetarian lasagna. Mmm, yeah, we can get down with that.
So, this all sounds like a delicious weight loss solution, and we’re into cutting back our meat consumption…. just as long as we can still eat cheese. Don’t make us give up the cheese!
