When you’re a celeb participating in social media, we imagine trolls abound. It’s totally not fair, but it does happen. And it looks like Julia Roberts just learned that not even your nail polish choices are safe from those unsolicited opinions.

After film costume collector Nicholas Inglis posted an image of Roberts on the TIFF red carpet on his Instagram and compared her outfit to one Joan Crawford wore, one commenter decided to air her grievances with Roberts’s nail polish. But don’t worry, your girl came back with the perfect response:

When user Anniemagic11 commented on Julia’s “ugly black nail polish,” Roberts responded,”It is in fact a navy polish with garnets crystals as a grounding accent. In case you would like to edit your comment from ‘ugly black nail polish’ to ugly navy polish with Garnet crystals. Just sayin.”

Props to @commentsbycelebs for capturing this genius clap back. It’s got just the right amount of sass and passive aggression, and Roberts chose the perfect emoji for the occasion. Not bad for a woman who just joined Instagram in June.

After the fact, but not in direct response to the nail polish comment, Roberts told CTV News that joining Instagram has helped her understand her kids’ world a little better. “You have to find a sense of humour and I think that the benefit I’ve gotten from it, truly, is the tiniest little insight into what it must be like to be a teenager in this day and age,” she told the outlet.

She might still be learning how social media works, but it looks like Roberts has a knack for taking on haters. Here’s to many more A+ comebacks.
