Meghan Markle may have been at the centre of a fairytale wedding this year when she wed Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex, but the former actor has endured her share of nightmares when it comes to her family. If it feels like everyone in the Markle family has taken their chance to bad-mouth both Meghan and the Royal Family in the press over the past year, it’s because they have. Markle’s father Thomas is now the latest in his family to take a pay day and slam his daughter in public. Thankfully, Meghan has found a friend and supporter in her new sister-in-law, Kate.

Thomas Markle spoke to the Mail On Sunday this past weekend and had a few choice words for his daughter and her new in-laws. Saying that he’s hit his limit with the royal family and is ready to unload on them, Thomas criticized his daughter for cutting him out of his life. Says the man who skipped his daughter’s wedding, “What riles me is Meghan’s sense of superiority. She’d be nothing without me. I made her the duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.”

Lovely.

Thomas Markle says he worries that if Meghan and Harry have a child he won’t be allowed to see it, and that he may die without reconciling with his daughter. Hot tip – speaking poorly about Meghan and the Royals to the press isn’t going to help either of those situations.

Although the Middletons are pretty picture perfect, Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate still knows what it’s like to have your family hounded by the paparazzi and has reportedly been making every effort to ensure Meghan doesn’t feel alone. According to Vanity Fair, Kate has been “a pillar of support” for Meghan as she becomes a member of the royal family, including weekly hang outs and phone calls.  “She’s been very sympathetic to what’s been going on with Meghan and her dad.”

The two recently attended a match at Wimbledon together and looked happy and relaxed, an impressive feat considering Kate’s three young children at home and Meghan’s seemingly never-ending family tree.

With the intense list of rules and traditions Meghan must learn and follow now that she’s a member of the Royal Family, it’s great to hear that she has the support of Kate, a fellow commoner who has had to learn the new life of being a Duchess. Plus, having a friend that also has their own secret service detail probably makes attending public events much easier.
