Justin Bieber is back, baby, and in a big way. The singer who has been on a hiatus since the dinosaurs roamed the earth (look, it's been long) announced that 2020 is going to be his year. The Year of the Biebs. Scratch that. The DECADE of the Biebs.Beliebers everywhere rejoiced as Justin announced on Instagram and YouTube that he is releasing a new single on January 3, followed by a highly anticipated album (his fifth, to be exact), a concert tour AND a docuseries. We're sorry, but WHAT DO YOU MEAN??"As humans, we are imperfect," he said in the video announcement. "My past, my mistakes, all the things that I've been through, I believe that I'm right where I'm supposed to be and God has me right where he wants me." And in one week we're going to find out exactly where God wanted him because that's when Bieber's new single, "Yummy" — snippets of which are heard in the vid — will debut. "I feel like this is different than the previous albums just because of where I'm at in my life," he continued. "I'm excited to perform it and to tour it. We all have different stories. I'm just excited to share mine. It's the music that I've loved the most out of anything I've done." It makes sense. Not only is he older, but he's happily married, and in a healthier place. Why wouldn't that inspire him to go back to doing what he loves the most and what he does the best?
Bieber's North American tour kicks off in Seattle on May 14 and wraps in New Jersey on September 26. He has four Canadian stops: Ottawa on September 1, Quebec City on September 3, Toronto on September 10 and Montreal on September 14.While we haven't had new music from Bieber in years, it's not like he's been MIA from the musical spotlight entirely. Sure, 2015's Purpose may have been the last time he blessed us with original songs but he was also featured on Major Lazer's "Cold Water" in 2016, was part of two major hits in 2017 — DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" along with Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne; and the record-breaking "Despacito" remix with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. Add in "I Don't Care" with Ed Sheeran earlier this year along with his team-up with Billie Eilish for the "Bad Guy" remix and his sweet wedding song with Dan + Shay, "10,000 Hours," and it hasn't exactly been a Bieber-free few years. But it was the break he needed to give us what we've been craving the most. Never say never, indeed. The timing of his announcement could be seen as a little suspect, if not a lot thunder-stealing. Bieber's ex, Selena Gomez, released new singles in October but her album, Rare, is set to come out January 10 — a week after "Yummy." Hmm. Sorry or he don't care?
