Justin Bieber teaching Jimmy Fallon how to play hockey is the purest Canadian content
The funniest thing about the bit is that Jimmy is truly out of his depth. We’ve seen the host play the Goofy Guy Who Can’t Sport before, but with hockey he’s legitimately having a hard time. Justin takes the tired-deadpanning-parent approach, which is much appreciated, as they do drills like "backhand shots and backhanded compliments." Though Jimmy does nail him with the assessment that The Biebs' mustache is not-quite-skeevy. Yup.
We'd say overall, the day was a win for Canada, evidenced mainly by the lack of skating ability on Jimmy's part and Bieber's triumphant Zamboni-mounted rendition of "O Canada."
Justin Bieber has more to celebrate than just a win over an uncoordinated late night host though—Changes, his first album since 2015, dropped Friday. After a few years spent keeping to himself to work on his mental and physical health and spend time with his girlfriend-then-fiancée-then-wife Hailey Bieber, he finally seems to be ready to share what he's been going through with the world and is embarking on a tour (you can enter to win tickets to his Toronto show here). Not only has he released the new music, he's part-way through the run of his 10-part YouTube Originals docu-series where he's already revealed some hard truths about his life between 2015's Purpose and today. After all he's gone through, it's nice to see JB having fun and doing what he does best—razzing people about hockey.
