The duet we’ve been waiting to hear since 2002 might finally be happening. Excuse us while we have a minor freak out. That’s right, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears have said that they’d be down to collaborate. It’s just chatter and good intentions at this point, but it’s from the right sources–Timberlake and Spears themselves.
First, Brit told E! News that she’d be more than willing to make some sweet music (not metaphorically) with her former lover. Interviewers asked her who her dream collaborators would be and she listed Aerosmith and Gwen Stefani, and then added, “Justin Timberlake is very good.”
Uh, yeah. He is. We’d totally collab with Justin, too.
Then, E! News’ Mark Malkin put JT on the spot at a red carpet at TIFF (where he was promoting his new Netflix doc, Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids), asking him what he thought about the news.
“She did?” replied Timberlake, looking surprised (and super handsome) when Malkin told him. “Sure. Absolutely. Absolutely. Again, I have a 17-month-old–I don’t get the headline news. I apologize for being not in the know. Hey, I’m accessible. Give us a call.”
You’re forgiven, JT. Especially if you actually lay down a track (or nine) with Spears. And we truly hope she does call. Like, today. Seriously, Britney, please call him right now! Let’s make this happen.
Like, we’ve been dreaming about the pair making musical magic since the Mickey Mouse days.
But we have one itty bitty request: we need them to bring back those matching denim outfits. You just know they’re tucked in the back of their closets somewhere collecting cobwebs! Yup, that look from the 2001 American Music Awards is by far one of our fav red carpet moments of all time.
Ah, the glory days.
