Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state, until Kaley Cuoco came along to save the animals. The Big Bang Theory (Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. MT) actor was celebrating Thanksgiving with her husband Karl Cook at his parents’ California beach house when the pair noticed a sea lion in distress. Rather than shrug and go back inside for pie, the animal lovers called the Channel Island Marine & Wildlife Institute, with the group sending volunteers to help rescue the sea lion. If only the first Thanksgiving had such a happy ending.

Sharing the story on Instagram, Cuoco wrote that she called the CIMWI about the sea lion but figured she wouldn’t get much of a response during the holidays. “They promised me a volunteer but I was unsure it would happen since it’s Thanksgiving! A few hours later I noticed a group of volunteers huddled around the seal. They all showed up to help! My heart is full and I’m thankful these gracious people left their thanksgiving plans to help an animal in need. Doesn’t get better than that.”

Cuoco’s sister Bri Cuoco shot a video of the sea lion and the volunteers, who appeared to have no idea that the person who called them was one of the most famous actors on TV. We don’t know what’s better, a sea lion being saved or watching Kaley Cuoco introduce herself to the volunteers, who obviously spend their time helping animals and not watching TV. Probably the sea lion.

Cuoco shared an update on Sandy the sea lion (we like that she went with a gender-neutral name), with ‘Sandy’ now receiving rehab at the CIMWI’s Santa Barbara location.

Kaley and her husband Karl are well-known for their animal rights advocacy. The pair are parents to a house full of pets, including one of their latest additions, a white rabbit. Yeah, we’d say that Cuoco likes animals.

Actually, love.

She loves animals.

Both avid horseback riders (Cook is a nationally ranked professional rider), the couple made their love of animals a huge part of their 2018 wedding. The guest list included their four dogs, with wedding photos taken in a barn with their horses.

Instead of traditional wedding gifts, the couple asked for donations to their favourite animal charity.

So yeah, Sandy the sea lion picked the right couple to fall down in front of this week.
