Finding a perfectly stylish outfit is easy, or so you would think with the abundance of help that Hollywood’s brightest stars have at their disposal. Yet, our fashion darlings and stylists managed to miss the mark yet again this week.
One such miss was Jumanji: The Next Level star Karen Gillan who appeared to be channeling a certain fluffy Pixar character in her fuzzy blue and purple look. It begs the question, “If Karen is Sully, who is Mike Wazowski?” Jack Black? Kevin Hart? The Rock?
Karen is joined on the worst dressed list this week by the likes of Katy Perry and Adrina Arjona, who were apparently trying to out-bow each other, as well as Sophia Bush in her best tribute to Violet Beauregarde, Kelly Rowland getting ready to fly right off the Jumanji red carpet and Gayle King wearing a psychedelic ink blot test.
See all that and more below in this edition of Worst Looks of the Week.
Karen Gillan went to the ‘Jumanji’ premiere in ‘Monsters Inc.’ cosplay
Ashley GreeneThere’s something about the glittery pants and white button-down combo that makes it look like Ashley could break out the jazz hands at any moment! We really want to like this ensemble, but pop a cane and top hat on her, and you can practically hear Michigan J. Frog performing “Hello My Baby.”Getty Images
Lily AldridgeWhen you have a “People Now” sit-down at 12 and an equestrian event at 12:30… She’s still looking beautifully put together, but we can’t help but feel Lily should have left the riding gear at home. Getty Images
Adria ArjonaForget the cutesy bow-clad shoes, headbands or other hair accessories, Adria went straight to big and bold, and dressed up as a bedazzled bow itself. We’ve seen this trend around, but kind of wish we hadn’t. Getty Images
Katy PerryOkay, were Adrina and Katy trying to out-bow each other this week? Admittedly, we like the execution of Katy’s bow better, but what’s up with those pockets? Pockets in a dress are always a bonus but the placement here is so weird.Getty Images
Anna PaquinIt’s too bad Anna’s dress didn’t match the event she’s attending as well as her hair did. She’s wearing a dress that would have been an instant hit with the housewives on Wisteria Lane, but for an occasion this vibrant, we’d love to see something to play off the red hot velvet on her tootsies.Getty Images
Eva LongoriaSpeaking of Wisteria Lane, this Desperate Housewives alum desperately needs to tone down the turquoise and hem her pants. A power suit at an event celebrating powerful women is fitting, but we just can’t get over how this outfit isn’t.Getty Images
Karen GillanUtilizing sheer fabrics? Love. Unique silver accessories? Also love. But the outfit itself? Hard pass. The scalloped hem with puffed sleeves looks like the lacey cloth on grandma’s coffee table and the feathery flowers don’t even match the non-feathery flowers. In the words of Mike Wazowski, “Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!”Getty Images
Sophia BushSophia looks ready to tour the Wonka factory. Sophia, you’re turning violet, Sophia! It’s certainly a flattering colour, but that shouldn’t be license to dress in that shade exclusively—less is more.Getty Images
Julia StilesSaving her stripes and plaids for another day, Julia went full-on with the spotty motif! She’s peppered with dots on both her skirt and blouse, which is a fashion yes, but on this occasion, the sheer fabric and visibility of her bra takes away from the otherwise cute and classic outfit.Getty Images
Tori SpellingAhh, there’s nothing like a feminine floral print to soak up the last of summer’s rays... wait, it’s the middle of December. There’s literally snow in this photo. The delicate print is cute, but is better suited to warmer months, and not partnered with chunky slouch boots and a gold seashell belt. Cute barrette though.Getty Images
Kelly RowlandKelly’s angel wings are giving off major John Travolta vibes (if you haven’t seen Michael, then we suggest you look it up). While the earrings and heels are ready for the runway, the fluffy feather shoulder pads aren’t. Getty Images
Dania RamirezDania’s cotton-candy-coloured dress is cute, and we don’t even hate the feather embellishments at the cuff. But the shaggy mane hanging from the bottom? That crosses the line from cute and edgy fashion to sheepdog. Getty Images
Sally FieldIt was Sissy Spacek in the film Blast from the Past who proclaimed that girls from Pasadena seemed a little bit nicer. Pasadena native Ms. Field is owning that assessment just a little too hard in this head-to-toe niceness. Some brighter colours would help.Getty Images
Alexa ChungIf only it was 1997… Alexa would be a shoo-in for an extra on Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Yes, that dress would have been a hit in the '90s, but in today’s day and age, it’s better saved for Halloween.Getty Images
Gayle KingThe bright colors of Gayle’s dress are eye-catching, but so is the inkblot test pattern. Is she using her dress to test the personality characteristics of those that she meets at SiriusXM Studios? Clever, Gayle. Getty Images
LizzoThe perks of donning a versatile denim dress include the fact that you can wear it with almost everything—strappy heels, booties, and even sneakers. For this event, though, Lizzo would’ve been better served with a pair of sleek booties.Getty Images
Daisy RidleyIt must be hard to find time to fit in a workout while on a press tour, especially for a film as big as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Oh, wait, looks like Daisy’s got that covered by wearing her training belt atop her otherwise sleek blazer and skirt. Fantastic.Getty Images
Elizabeth HurleyWhile hitting up BuzzFeed's "AM To DM," Elizabeth opted for a form-fitting plaid jumpsuit that, until you look closely at it, looks like a well-fitted suit. Though we can’t fault that tailoring, it’d be even more flattering if it were two pieces. Getty Images
