In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, the lady whose dating life is on everyone’s lips revealed she isn’t bothered by all the chatter that’s going on around her and Pete Davidson.
Careful not to name her 25-year-old SNL beau, Beckinsale did admit that the flurry of attention is new for her.
“I’m surprised by the interest. I’ve never been in this position before—never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief,” she told The Times. “It’s all quite shocking, and something to get used to. I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it’s not.”
She went on to say that she considers paying this much attention to a woman’s personal life is “a little old fashioned” and compares herself to a divisive English breakfast spread, Marmite, before saying she doesn’t let the noise get to her.
“I’m OK with being Marmite. The people who like me really, really like me and would jump in front of trains for me. But if you don’t like me, I don’t care. It really doesn’t affect me.”
However, her recent Instagram clean-up suggests otherwise. After comedian David Spade left an especially pointed comment on her Instagram post where she is cradling a baby tiger—it’s exactly as inventive as you’d expect—Beckinsale responded with her trademark wit and then a day later—poof!—deleted all of her Instagram posts.
Luckily, as of today, she’s back and her sole post is a photo from the L.A. Times interview. She does clarify to one of her followers in the comments that her temporarily exiting the platform wasn’t due to trolling.
Either way, it’s good to have her back on the ‘gram, living her life, romantic and otherwise, according to her own rules.
