They say life is defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss. Jimmy Fallon seems to know that all too well when it comes to the ladies, because every few years, it’s revealed that the prince of late night is actually the king of missed romantic opportunities. During Monday's at-home edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (weeknights at 11:35pET on CTV). Jimmy interviewed his pal and Almost Famous co-star Kate Hudson via video-chat, and she had a friendly bone to pick with him.It turns out, Kate just found out that Jimmy was totally into her 20 years ago, wanted to ask her out and—wait for it—she felt the same way. Whaaat?Let's rewind 20 years ago, to the filming of Almost Famous, a generation-defining film about love, coming-of-age and rocking tunes. Upon the film's release, Jimmy and Kate were launched into stardom, but at the time, they were just buddies hanging out on set, enjoying each other’s company. Jimmy wanted their friendship to be something more, and Kate revealed that seriously had no clue but would have been into it.
“You gave me no indication!” Kate said from the Hudson HQ she shares with her partner Danny Fujikawa and her three kids, including recent People mag cover star baby Rani. “Jimmy, if you would have actually made a move, I would have totally gone there! I remember thinking to myself like, ‘Why has Jimmy never made a move?’ And then I just kind of realized like, ‘Oh, well, he's not into me like that.’ So I was just like, ‘Okay, well, whatever,’ you know?!”Jimmy, nervously giggling throughout the segment, tried to explain that he thought all of their hangs and fun adventures together (they went ice skating together at Central Park, and attended a show by the legendary Canadian comedy troupe Kids In The Hall tour together) indicated that he wanted more, but by then she had met love-interest Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, and it was too late.Anybody else feeling a little déjà vu here? That's because a few years ago, Nicole Kidman also confronted Jimmy on his show about the exact same thing. She revealed that there was a time that she had liked him but when they hung out, he basically blanked her. “I just remember I liked you,” Nicole said to Jimmy’s astonishment. “And you wouldn’t talk. You wouldn’t say anything...  After about an hour and a half, I thought, ‘he has no interest, this is so embarrassing.’ And then I left and thought, ‘okay, no chemistry.’” So this guy is basically clueless about his potential Hollywood romances![video_embed id='1936640']RELATED: Jimmy Fallon’s daughter adorably crashes an interview because she lost a tooth[/video_embed]This most recent revelation with Kate is coming to light because a little over a year ago on The Tonight Show, Jimmy played a game with Margot Robbie called “Pour It Out” where the participants have to reveal personal details about their lives. When asked, “Do you have a co-star you thought you could have dated but didn’t?” Jimmy uttered Kate’s name.“I had like 100 people send me that clip!” Kate laughed about Jimmy's revealing answer. They both agreed that everything turned out just fine anyway, as Kate went on to marry Chris Robinson (they would later divorce but have remained close friends and co-parents), and Jimmy has a couple of gorgeous little blonde angels at his home with his wife, Nancy Juvonen. We can't wait to find out what other gorgeous A-lister Jimmy could have dated if he would have picked up on their signals.Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CTV.[video_embed id='1947544']BEFORE YOU GO: Brad Pitt nails SNL appearance as Dr. Fauci[/video_embed]
