If you ever wondered what the Queen eats, who better to ask than Duchess Kate? And that’s just what one child did. Kate was making pizza with a group of kids who got to do their lesson outside their classroom (something the Duchess believes her kids, George and Charlotte, would totally love to do … you’ll see in the video in a sec) and, well, kids are kids.
They grilled her with all kinds of questions. Because anyone who has ever spoken to a group of children or had to respond to a bunch of questions being fired at them from children know it’s like flying with the Riddler. Except in Kate’s case, it was lots of little Riddlers. Yet she handled it all with ease.
I can’t even tell you how many brilliant things there are here: Kate’s reaction to cheese and cucumber pizza; George learning about space in school – and best of all the little girl who asks her whether the Queen eats pizza! 🍕 The answer was……watch on! pic.twitter.com/RXTH8DjAwA

The youngster asked if the Queen has ever had pizza and Kate had the best response: “You know, that’s such a good question. I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe next time I see her, shall I ask?” And that’s fair. We don’t know everything our grandmothers-in-law have eaten. But hopefully the Duchess sticks to her word and asks her the next time she sees her. Maybe on Sunday at the next church service they attend together?
Kate can tell her that she prefers bacon on her pizza over pepperoni (yes, we were clutching our pearls too), but it’s probably safe to assume that that’s not the topping The Queen would fancy. Fish and chicken are her go-tos, with sides of either vegetables or a salad, and maybe, just maybe, the odd beef fillet or game bird finds a way on her china. So, if anything, she might like some barbecued chicken on top, perhaps some sprinklings of ground beef. Or maybe she would keep it simple with only veggies. And hers wouldn’t be covered with a lowly cheese like mozzarella; rather, a camembert or a gouda seems more royally fitting.
We’re just being optimistic, though. If we look at what we know, we have a sad feeling Her Majesty doesn’t like or eat pizza at all. Her former chef, Darren McGrady, knows exactly what dishes are fit for the Queen, and based on her fairly strict diet and lack of interest in anything too daring, not to mention the “no garlic” rule the royals abide by, then pizza likely isn’t on the menu in any of the Queen’s households. Because, let’s be serious, what’s a good tomato or white sauce without garlic?
It’s all good, though. Pizza might be missing from Her Majesty’s diet but she’s clearly doing something right. As long as she keeps up her booze quota, she can eat whatever she wants. If only someone (ahem, Kate) could convince her that her daily glass of wine would go great would a slice.
