To say that comedian Kathy Griffin has had a terrible 2017 would be an understatement, but the best-selling author and Emmy-winner isn’t going down without a fight.
In May 2017, Griffin posed for a photo that showed the comedian holding a fake severed head that was meant to look like President Trump. The reaction was swift and intense, with Trump tweeting the comedian directly and having her placed under federal investigation. Griffin was fired from her New Year’s Eve CNN hosting gig with Anderson Cooper, who also quickly distanced himself from his former friend.
The fallout from the picture has continued to plague the comedian, who was forced to cancel many of her US shows following the incident. Well, it’s not stopping there. In a new 17-minute video Griffin uploaded to YouTube this weekend, the details of what has taken place since posing with the fake Trump head, as well as how Griffin was treated in Hollywood since the early days of her career, have been laid out by the no-holds barred entertainer.
The video, which was shot on Saturday while Griffin was on tour in Australia, was prompted by an interview Griffin’s former boss Andy Cohen did with TMZ. When approached by TMZ’s cameras at LAX last week, Cohen, who is replacing Griffin on this year’s New Year’s Eve special on CNN, repeatedly pretended to have no idea who Griffin was, a move that was described as ‘hilarious’ on the TMZ website.
Even when it’s on tape, there are doubters? He is NOT kidding w paps. Was my boss for 10 years. Treated me like a dog. Deeply misogynistic https://t.co/geqFsLtWy1

Right. So funny.
As pointed out by Griffin in her video, Cohen was her boss for 10 years, including the six years she shot My Life On The D-List, which won two Emmy Awards for Bravo.
In the video, Griffin says that Cohen repeatedly tried to push her out of Bravo and treated her terribly. “The whole time I was working there, I didn’t know how Andy Cohen wanted to be me … I didn’t know Andy Cohen was on the red carpet, trying to be funny and asking questions on BravoTV.com,” she said. “I didn’t know when they ended The D List and I desperately wanted to do a talk show, Andy Cohen would be the first television executive in the history of television to give himself a talk show — which seems to get picked up every season.”
Griffin also alleges that Cohen offered her drugs before the two times she appeared on his series Watch What Happens Live. “Both times I did the show, right before we went live, Andy Cohen privately asked me in an office if I wanted to do blow,” says Griffin. “I’ve never had a drink in my life. You guys know I’m no prude but I’m kind of like a straightedge, I thought he was kidding the first time. I was hoping he was kidding, the second time I do the show, same thing. So once again we’re alone in an office and he’s like, ‘Wanna do some coke?’ And I’m thinking, ‘He’s serious!’ Trust me, he’s going to say he’s kidding and everything, no. He was asking me to do cocaine with him, that made me very uncomfortable.”
Cohen wasn’t the only person Griffin took aim at in her new video. The comedian named names of agents, managers and TV producers, including many women, who she felt did little to protect her or help her in her career.
Griffin also focused on TMZ president Harvey Levin, including sharing the paparazzi king’s phone number. Griffin accuses Levin of harassing her and her family, and of being in Donald Trump’s back pocket, alleging that the pair speak on the phone ‘weekly.’ It’s worth noting that TMZ has covered Griffin extensively over the past year, but have yet to report on her 17-minute video.
“People like Harvey Levin and Andy Cohen honestly just live to take women down,” says Griffin.
The video is stacked with shocking allegations and troubling reveals by Griffin, including the fact that the comedian has been placed on the no-fly list following her picture with a fake Trump head. It’s a lot of information to take in, so here’s a quick recap, as per Griffin:
- The President of the United States is against Kathy Griffin.
- Andy Cohen is against Kathy Griffin.
- Harvey Levin is against Kathy Griffin.
- CNN President Jeff Zucker is against Kathy Griffin.
- It still sucks to be a woman in 2017.
