Saying its been a tough year for comedian Kathy Griffin would be an understatement. After sharing a photo of herself holding fake severed head of President Trump, Griffin received death threats and was put under investigation by the Secret Service.

Griffin later apologized publicly for the photo, something she has never done in her decades as a stand-up comedian. The photo resulted in Griffin losing sponsorships and being fired from her annual New Year’s Eve co-hosting spot on CNN with Anderson Cooper.

The bad news continues for Griffin, whose sister Joyce Griffin is suffering from cancer. In a bold move, Griffin, who comes from a large family, shaved her head in support of her sister, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

The famous redhead has yet to debut her new look on her own social media channels, but her mother Maggie Griffin has now shared a picture of her daughter showing off her newly shaved head.

“My daughter Kathleen Mary is a wonderful human being,” tweeted the elder Griffin, who is known to many viewers for appearing on her daughter’s reality series My Life On The D-List.

Griffin, who has written extensively on the closeness of her family in her many autobiographies, has yet to comment directly on her sister’s diagnosis or her decision to shave her head in support of Joyce’s battle with cancer. In 2014, Kathy lost her brother Gary Griffin, who passed away after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer.
