Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes have broken up. Sorry, let us start over. Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes were apparently dating and have now broken up. How do you mourn a relationship you never got to celebrate and secretly judge from afar? What’s our grieving process in this situation?
Page Six has confirmed that the secretive duo have parted ways, which is sad news for Hollywood romance. Or, it’s just another day because they weren’t actually dating. We may never know.
What we do know is that Holmes and Foxx were friendly while the Dawson’s Creek actor was still married to Tom Cruise, who co-starred with Foxx in the 2004 film Collateral.
After Holmes left, or fled, her marriage in 2012, she reportedly began dating Foxx in 2013, when they were first photographed together at a Hamptons benefit. Cruise reportedly had Holmes sign a divorce contract that prohibited her from entering a public relationship until 2017, something that would be unbelievable if we hadn’t watched Going Clear. But we have. Cruise reportedly agreed to break the contract this year, which makes the break-up news even more surprising.
Assuming the rumours swirling around the two actors are to be believed, the couple was together for three unconfirmed, out-of-sight years before recently calling it quits. According to Page Six, the two actors ended their romance because Foxx was reluctant to go public with their relationship.
That sounds like a bit of a stretch, considering the huge and heavy international spotlight cast on Holmes and Tom Cruise during their marriage and break-up, with Katie staying mainly out of the public eye in recent years. Her desire to jump back into a high-profile romance doesn’t exactly seem likely, but then again we always thought she’d end up with Dawson.
