Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have finally made peace at last. Again. The pop stars, who have been famously feuding for years, have publicly put an end to their spat and shared their new friendship status on social media, which is making us wonder, is it time for a duet? We project record sales of approximately 1 billion copies.

On Tuesday, Katy Perry shared a picture of a plate of chocolate chip cookies with the plate decorated in icing. Reading PEACE AT LAST in red icing and bookended by two peace signs, Perry tagged the location of the picture as Let’s Be Friends, which we assume is more of a state of mind than a physical space, although it sounds like a great name for a high-end children’s boutique. Captioning the photo “feels good,” Perry included a heart emoji before tagging @taylorswift. We know Taylor loves to bake. We know Katy is a human and loves to eat. And we know that we are about to do a deep dive into what these cookies could really mean.

Both Swift and Perry are scheduled to release new music this summer, which has led to speculation that the new treaty could also include a new song. Perry has slowly been releasing singles from her follow-up to 2017’s Witness, including the Zedd collaboration “365” in February and more recently, “Never Really Over” on May 31. As for Swift, she dropped her Brandon Urie duet “Me!” on April 26, which acts as the lead single to her upcoming untitled seventh studio album. But the fact that the two singers are both releasing new albums isn’t the only reason we think there’s more to this delicious looking plate of cookies than meets the eye (those are definitely homemade, right?).

Let’s review the facts. Taylor Swift loves leaving clues and Easter eggs for her fans in her music videos, lyrics, album artwork and social media posts. Following the release of Perry’s “Never Really Over,” Swift added the song to her Apple playlist in the number 13 spot, which is famously Swift’s favourite number. Interesting. After Perry posted the cookie image, Swift added 13 emoji hearts. Very interesting. The peace signs on the plate had sprinkles in them. We don’t think that was simply decoration. We also think that Perry’s location tag of ‘Let’s Be Friends’ and the caption “feels good” could either be song titles or lyrics.

While it will likely be a few days or weeks before our suspicions are confirmed, what we do know for sure is that we are loving the reunion of the former friends. Perry and Swift famously split in 2014 following a disagreement over backup dancers. Swift released her song “Bad Blood” in 2015 in response to the situation, with Perry following up with “Swish Swish” in 2017. While Swift never named Perry outright as her enemy, Perry was more candid about the situation while appearing on a Carpool Karaoke segment in 2017, with Perry telling host James Corden “Honestly, it’s really like she started it and it’s time for her to finish it.”

Well the feud seemed to have come to an end in 2018 when Swift shared an image of a literal olive branch and a handwritten note from Perry.

Let’s not forget that after a short spat between Swift and rapper Nicki Minaj, the pair performed together at the MTV VMAs in 2015. In the pop world, the best way to rekindle a friendship is with music, so our countdown to the Swift/Perry jam is officially on.
