It’s been five years of schoolgirl sniping between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, but it wasn’t always like this. Nearly a decade ago, it was more mad love than bad blood. Sure, things may have gotten a little awkward when Katy dated Taylor’s ex, John Mayer, but it wasn’t enough to bust up their friendship. That came shortly after Katy and John split, when Swift claimed a singer stole one of her backup dancers and “basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.” That singer was eventually outed as Perry, who inspired Swift’s hit “Bad Blood.”
Katy eventually tweeted back with “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…” while Katy later made music with another of Taylor’s exes, Calvin Harris. It looked like the two singers were never going to be friends again. Until now.
It seems the feud has finally come to an end. Swift kicked off her Reputation tour on Tuesday night but earlier in the day, she received a good-luck card from Perry. Along with the note? A literal olive branch.
“Hey old friend,” the note, which Taylor shared on her Instagram stories, appears to read. “I’ve been doing some thinking on past miscommunications and feelings between us and wanted to clear the air. The words “deeply sorry” are visible as well.
Well, then. Someone had to be the bigger woman here so well done, Katy. Hopefully that’s the end of this stupid feud. Oooh, maybe one of the stops will include a guest appearance from Katy! Too soon?
