The cutest culinary craze to ever hit Japan is here, and it’s a heck of a lot cuter than black burgers or deep-fried maple leaves. “Kawaii” cooking, which roughly translates to “cute” cooking, is exactly that — freaking cute.
The creations that have been popping up on YouTube seem like what would happen if the kitchen in a dollhouse suddenly came to life. Think mini cakes roughly the size of a toonie, small pots of broth lit by tea light candles and more.
The trend follows Japan’s interest in all things tiny, small and delicate and has begun catching on in the rest of the world.
