Sometimes when you’re on vacation in the Caribbean, you may think you’d want to stay in paradise forever, but for Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos, they just might have no other choice. According to
People, Kelly, Mark, and their three children Michael (22), Lola (18), and Joaquin (17) were vacationing in the islands when “everything shut down,” so they made the decision to stay put.During a virtual townhall yesterday for ABC employees, Ripa went into detail about the family’s decision not to return to the United States. "We had planned a trip for our family [ . . .] And we arrive and three days later, the entire world changed, really. I mean, everything shut down; the government shut down; our country shut down. I hate to use the word stuck, but we were. Riverdale which is filmed in Vancouver, also had to hunker down as production on his CW show was
shut down, along with nearly every TV and film production around.Recently, both Ripa and Consuelos celebrated their eldest son Michael graduation from college with an Instagram post that hinted at their Caribbean isolation and now makes much more sense: “We are so grateful to be all together on what I know must seem like the longest family trip ever!”
Ripa and Consuelos had
previously announced a $1 million donation for coronavirus relief efforts and she recently
