Kelly Ripa may have made headlines for her week-long vacation following Michael Strahan’s announcement that he was leaving their morning show Live!, but it looks as though she’s bouncing back in the best way possible.
After addressing her mini break in the most professional way — including a shoutout of congratulations to Strahan for the new gig on ABC’s Good Morning America, Ripa has continued to be the epitome of a classy working woman. It’s obvious that deep down she cares a lot about her show — a place she calls her “second home,” and she’s not about to let a departing coworker get her down.
So she’s calling in the big guns for her first show without Strahan: none other than Jimmy Kimmel. The late night host will appear on the May 16 episode, which is scheduled for three days after Strahan’s departure.
Kimmel kicks off what will inevitably be another run of guest hosts as Ripa looks to fill her co-host’s chair. It’s a search that we’re all used to by now (remember when Regis Philbin originally left?) and it’s one that has featured some notable Canadian talent in the past (ahem, Ben Mulroney, we’re looking at you).
Sure, Kimmel probably won’t be up for the gig full-time (he does have a late night show to worry about, after all), but we’d be totally down for the duo reading some of the mean tweets that we’re guessing surfaced after Kelly took some time off following Strahan’s announcement.
Hey, if anyone can take it like a pro, it’s Kelly. We think she’s proven that.
