A white dress can be divine, and not just on your wedding day. When it’s crisp and clean, it just looks airy. But that’s also the problem with white – it isn’t a tint that really does anything close to defining your silhouette unless it’s immaculately fitted. It doesn’t slim like black, and it just looks like a mound of fabric if it’s draped like some sort of amorphous blob. And that’s exactly what happened to Kesha and Julianne Moore this week. Their clothes were swallowing them up whole, and in both cases it looked as though they were wearing a California king sheet set. Not a great look, to be honest.

But, seriously, when you see Raven Symone‘s “homage” look, or Hilary Swank‘s basic outfit, you’ll see that the ladies in white weren’t the worst of the lot.
