For a while there, Ke$ha Kesha used to be everywhere. Don’t pretend you don’t know the words to “Tik Tok,” “C’Mon,” “Die Young” or “We R Who We R.” But then, poof! It’s like she dropped off the face of the Earth. Maybe you thought she reached her peak like a certain boy-band straight out of Orlando but in actuality, legal reasons are why she currently doesn’t have a stranglehold on Top 40 radio.

Kesha is in the middle of a tense legal battle with her former producer Dr. Luke and until a judge rules otherwise, because of her contract, her recording career is effectively on hold.

So she’s dealing, sharing her life on Instagram, thanking fans for their support and telling them that everything will work out. But she also said she has no plans to “stop making art.” And since she can’t create anything new, she figured she’d tackle something classic.

“I love you guys more than you will ever know. It’s like mind-blowing,” she says in the video posted by Kesha fan site @keshaTODAY. “I can’t put out new music. But I can sing a little something of someone else’s songs or something that exists. So what should I sing?”

After some thought, she proceeded to break into a gorgeous, haunting cover of “Amazing Grace.”

Girlfriend can sing! And while many dismiss her songs as fluffy and/or awful, you can’t tell me “Timber” doesn’t have you singing along or, at the very least, tapping your foot because that is some catchy stuff. Whether or not you dig Kesha, it’s hard not to feel sympathy for her and what she’s going through right now as she fights against a label as big as Sony.

Kesha’s New York Supreme Court hearing, where she will learn whether or not she can move forward, was originally scheduled for today but because of the stinkin’ weather, it’s been pushed to Feb. 19.

Disappointing for fans and the singer-songwriter, who now have to wait three more painful weeks until she gets any kind of news. Ugh. Maybe she’ll keep putting out beautiful covers to keep her fans happy. Stay strong, girl!
