Kevin Hart and two others were involved in a serious car accident early Sunday morning, though the comedian managed to walk away from the wreckage. Hart and the driver sustained “major back injuries,” while the driver and third passenger were left trapped in the vehicle.

The accident happened early Sunday morning on Mulholland Drive in Calabasas, Calif. The photos on TMZ show Hart’s beloved Plymouth Barracuda in a ditch about 10 feet off the road after smashing through wooden fencing, and consider the visible damage, it’s miraculous that all three made it out. A witness told the gossip site that Hart was the first out of the vehicle and a member of his security team arrived to pick him up. Kevin reportedly went to his nearby home to “get medical attention” and was eventually treated in hospital. The driver, Jared Black, and his fiancé, Rebecca Broxterman, were pinned under the crushed roof of the car. Broxterman was treated on the scene after being extracted; Black, on the other hand, was seriously injured and airlifted to UCLA Medical Center.

Hart successfully underwent back surgery less than 24 hours after the accident and, Hart’s wife, Eniko Parrish, confirmed that he was recovering, telling TMZ on Monday that the actor-comedian was “great” and “going to be just fine,” adding “everybody’s good, thank God.” TMZ also added that the driver was “surrounded by family members as he also recovers.” Police officers determined that Black had not been drinking at the time of the crash. It looks like the car, a 40th birthday gift Hart bought for himself back in July, suffered the most damage.
