Sometimes friends shouldn't let friends accept diamonds from an ex.

This week’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians gave the inside scoop into Khloe’s strained relationship with ex Tristan Thompson. It seems that just months after completely breaking her heart and making a fool of her again, he's desperate to woo her and win her back but Khloe is so not easily convinced. With her birthday approaching and a guest appearance in Connecticut scheduled, Thompson reached out to her best friend Malika to arrange a surprise gift for her at the hotel—a diamond necklace. The reality star was quick to point out that this was a grander gesture than anything he'd ever done for her when they were actually together (surprise, surprise). She didn’t know if it was the right thing to do in accepting it, but her friends, like Maliqa Haqq, told her not to worry about what he had done and what it might imply if she did—aka, take the dang diamonds and don't worry!
Was this good advice from her pals? On one hand, the guy treated Khloe badly so if he wants to suddenly give her nice things who is she not to accept it? On the other hand, to go out of your way to help an emotionally abusive cheating ex “woo” your friend back doesn't seem terribly supportive. This guy has proven on multiple occasions to be a bad fit for Khloe—no amount of gifts will erase his infidelity. So why help him orchestrate this big move? Her friends should perhaps have taken a harder stance on helping her steer clear of a toxic relationship. To make matters worse, Tristan proceeded to give her a giant diamond ring (an engagement ring?) for her birthday, calling it a "promise ring" and asking her to accept it. When he was letting her from a phone call, he ended it with “I love you" to which Khloe said "Thank you" in  a baller move. Because that’s an odd, manipulative move on his part—yet he still can’t take a hint. Giving a promise ring to an ex who wants to remain an ex is a level of desperation we can't abide.Thankfully, Khloe isn’t interested in a romantic reunion, but is happy to see him trying harder to mend their relationship and build some forgiveness so they can have a stronger co-parenting relationship with their daughter True. She has an example of healthy co-parenting with her sister Kourtney and her ex Scott so there's something to strive towards with Tristan. She seems to understand that these gifts don’t change how he treats her when they are in a relationship and she endured humiliation too many times. As Kim mentioned during Khloe's b-day celebration, which included a gift of three puppies from mom Kris Jenner, she deserves happiness and hopefully her 35th year around the sun will bring her just that.Watch Keeping up With the Kardashians Sunday nights at 9pmET on E![video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Khloe Kardashian's secrets to having good days[/video_embed]
