The prestigious Peabody Awards has announced its 2019 entertainment winners and TV shows Killing Eve, Barry, The Good Place, The Americans and Pose are among this year’s winners. The organization also announced that iconic children’s show Sesame Street will be honoured with the Institutional Award for “50 years of educating and entertaining children in the U.S. and around the world.”

Wow, looks like Sandra Oh just can’t catch a break. But, actually.
Not only does she have the work of promoting season two of Killing Eve, appearing on major magazine covers as one of the most influential people of the year, she has to keep making appearances at awards shows to either win, host or both. When will this woman—this iconic, talented, gorgeous, groundbreaking Canadian woman—be permitted a moment of rest?
Other Peabody entertainment honourees include comedian Hannah Gadsby’s brilliant Nanette special, Hasan Minhaj’s Patriot Act, Steven Universe, Random Acts of Flyness and The End of the F***ing World.
Legendary actress, singer, dancer and all-around inspirational performer Rita Moreno was already announced as 2019’s recipient of the Peabody Career Achievement Award for her “indelible mark on the field.” Since she already has that EGOT status, the Peabody puts her in that super-rare PEGOT category, shared with only two others: Barbra Streisand and the late Mike Nicholls.
The awards, created to “recognize when storytelling is done well,” are given to pieces of fiction, non-fiction and broadcasting that tell invigorating and enlightening stories through TV, radio and online media. This year’s honours will be given out at a red carpet ceremony hosted by journalist Ronan Farrow on May 18.
