Whether you like Kim Kardashian or not, it’s hard to avoid the very real fact that she’s quite, well, entrepreneurial. Sure, you probably know that she was in a sex tape with Ray J, and that she’s a reality star. And you may even know that Kris Jenner, her mama, was besties with O.J. and Nicole Brown Simpson. And, of course, all of these facts certainly come with a litany of opinions.
But, she is an entrepreneur. She’s used her fame as a way to attract opportunities – the most successful of them all being Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, the mobile app game that made $74 million in 2014, and an estimated $200 million in 2015. And she gets a 45 per cent cut of all earnings, so … cha-ching.
And it’s still a popular game two years later. She added a Karl Lagerfeld avatar to the game last year, and there’s plans to add Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing to the fold soon, too.
But how does she keep it fresh? Well, Kim has added a new element to the game – not only will these fashion designer avatars be in the game, but the actual designers themselves will create digital clothes that you can buy in the shop. Kim made the announcement this week, stating that Lagerfeld’s Fendi and Chanel tops, bangs and pants would be available. Also involved? Handbag designer Judith Lieber.
So, yeah, from sex tape to superstar app consultant. We’re not saying this way is for everyone, but congratulations, Kim, on a road traveled.
