Kim Kardashian may be one of the most famous people in the world, but that doesn’t means she’s forgotten who has helped her on her rise to stardom. Before she was a social media trailblazer, makeup mogul and criminal justice advocate, Kardashian was working as the assistant to her best friend Paris Hilton and Kardashian is very well aware she owes a lot to her longtime friend’s support.
In a sneak peek clip from the upcoming 17th seasons (phew) of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (returning Sept 8 on E!), Kim talks to sister Khloe about her hectic schedule, which includes shooting an appearance in Hilton’s music video for “Best Friend’s Ass” before walking the red carpet at the Met Gala and welcoming her fourth child, baby Psalm West who was born via surrogate in May. After Khloe compliments her sister on finding time to shoot the cameo, Kim quickly jumps into say that doing any kind of favour for Hilton is a must. “I really would want to do anything for her,” said Kim. “She literally gave me a career, and I totally acknowledge that.”
Impressed with Kim’s allegiance to Hilton, Khloe continues, saying “A lot of people—no matter how they got their success—would, like, not say, ‘I got my career because of Paris.’ Where you’re so sweet and kind and your schedule is crazy, and your family and everything, but [you’ll still do it.]” Adding that she would move any scheduling issue to help Paris, Kim adds that “it’s important to me to be loyal to people.” But like anyone, Kim has a limit to her loyalty. She agreed to appear in longtime friend Paris Hilton’s music video, but didn’t dance in the video. Fair enough.
Seeing Kim’s loyalty on display is great, but our favourite part of the clip may be Kardashian arriving on set of “Best Friend’s Ass” and exclaiming, “If this doesn’t smell like Paris Hilton’s dressing room I don’t know what does.” We assume that means a combination of Hilton’s more than 22 perfurmes and glitter. Lots of glitter.

Before starring in KUWTK, Kim often popped up on Paris Hilton’s and Nicole Richie’s mid-2000’s series The Simple Life, one of the first reality shows of its kind. Working as Hilton’s closet organizer and personal assistant, Kim was often in the background on the show and was frequently photographed on the red carpet with Hilton, providing exposure that would help pave the way for her own reality career.
The friends eventually had a falling out around 2008 and spent a few years saying not so nice things about one another in the press, but mended fences by 2014, with Kardashian posting a pic of the women laughing together. Since then, the friends have frequently posed on one another’s social media, with Hilton attending the famous Kardashian Christmas parties. We love seeing the former frenemies squash whatever beef they had and support each other’s careers. And really, you can’t be Paris Hilton and write a song called “Best Friend’s Ass” and not have Kim Kardashian in it. That’s hot.
