Last October we were shocked to learn that Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed at gunpoint. Many doubted her, but on Sunday’s night’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim revealed exactly what went down on that fateful night in Paris, and anyone who thought the whole thing was a publicity stunt owes her an apology. Because Kim’s not that good an actor.

In hindsight, Kim told sisters Khloe and Kourtney that she believes “there was probably a group of guys that were following us the entire trip.” She remembers “Snapchatting that I was home and everyone was going to out, so I think they knew [bodyguard] Pascal [Duvier] was out with Kourtney and that I was there by myself. They had this window of opportunity and just went for it.”

She recalled hearing footsteps pounding up the stairs while she was in bed and when she called out and there was no response, she knew something was wrong.

The concierge, who was handcuffed and holding the key to her room, was being held by two men dressed as police officers. He ended up translating the robbers’ demands, which started off with her ring. The men then dragged her out of bed and into the hallway and that’s when she realized they were armed. Kim debated making a break for it but she’s no fool. She was savvy enough to know that if she did try to run, she’d probably be “shot in the back.”

The men took her back to her room, where she pleaded with them, via the concierge, not to hurt her.

They then duct-taped her mouth and that’s when she thought she was going to be assaulted.

“And then, he grabs my legs and I wasn’t, you know, I had no clothes on under. He pulled me toward him at the front of the bed and I thought, ‘OK, this is the moment they’re going to rape me.’ I fully mentally prepped myself — and then he didn’t.”

Instead, he duct-taped her legs and held a gun to her head. “I just knew that was the moment. They’re just totally going to shoot me in the head. I just prayed that Kourtney’s going to have a normal life after she sees my dead body on the bed.”

Everything else up to that point had been compelling, but Kim thinking of her sister was a truly heartbreaking moment.

Kim then broke down in tears as she relived the moment she believed she was going to die. Her last thoughts: “I have a family. I have my kids, my husband, my mom—I’m not going to make it out of here. I know how these things go.” And miraculously, that was when they picked her up, put her in the bathtub and fled.

Soon after, it was family to the rescue. Kourtney, Kris, Kendall and Pascal got to her shortly after the men took off, while Kanye abruptly ended his concert upon hearing what happened.

Aside from the devastating night, what might be most saddening for Kim is that Paris, the place where she and Kanye got married, is now forever tainted. The amazing memories are poisoned by this horrific ordeal. But we know she’ll get past it, thanks to all the love and support she’s received from her family. Because whether you love or hate the Kardashians, their unconditional care and concern for each other can’t be denied.

Kim did acknowledge that they need to reexamine their lifestyle. And based on how little she’s been out and about, it’s clear she has changed. For the better. For her safety.
