We’ve heard of some pretty extreme measures for protecting yourself against the elements, from dubious “sunscreen pills” to avoiding the sun or salt water altogether. But when it comes to taking a dip in the pool, we have to say that we’ve never heard about a particular problem that Kristen Bell has.

The Good Place star apparently really, really hates it when her fingers get pruney. So when she goes swimming, she wears rubber gloves to protect those digits. Obviously it works, since the actress has no qualms about showcasing her habit out in public, as husband Dax Shepard proved when he shared a picture on Instagram of her in the pool over the Fourth of July.

We hope Bell also slathered on copious amounts of sunscreen, because otherwise she might have a pretty weird tan line on her wrists. Also, does she wear gloves in the bath, too? And, perhaps in a less weird scenario, while doing dishes and cleaning? Furthermore, what about her toes? They get pruney too, so wouldn’t it make sense to wear water shoes or something as well?

Whatever, we suppose we all have our things. And while we haven’t really spent a lot of time thinking about how to avoid pruney fingers poolside, it is a good tip to wear gloves. Like, what if you have a pretty new mani you want to protect? Besides, as the comments show, Bell isn’t the only one who can’t stand that pruney old feeling.

“My son hates that feeling too @kristenanniebell… he just doesn’t wear gloves but I’m sure if I gave him the idea, he would do it too!” said one poster.

“Same here! People think I’m weird, but that pruney feeling is what’s weird! Hands up in the air,” someone else wrote.

“This is actually kind of genius. I just walk around with my hands out of the water like I’m afraid to touch anything at a crime scene. Or a surgeon that just scrubbed in; that’s a much less disturbing visual,” someone else added.

Okay, so maybe this is a bigger issue than we initially realized. Either way, we can probably all agree that the best takeaway from Shepard’s post is just how much these two celebs love each other, despite their quirks… or maybe because of them. And isn’t that kind of what we all want deep down?

All together now: awwwww.
