Kristen Bell lived every parent’s nightmare earlier this week when she rushed her daughter to the ER. The Good Place star posted about the scary experience on Instagram, commending the medical professionals who helped treat her young daughter.

Bell, who shares 4-year-old Delta and 6-year-old Lincoln with husband Dax Shepard, revealed that one of their daughters suffered a hairline fracture after her finger was “smushed so hard in the door it popped like a jelly donut.” Bell did not include a picture of the injury and for that, we thank her.

The injury was severe enough (jelly donut!) to warrant a trip to the ER, a first for Bell and Shepard’s daughter. Thankfully, the young patient received excellent care at the Children’s Hospital LA, with Bell praising the employees to her 11 million Instagram followers. “Thank you so much to @childrensla for the amazing care, thank u Dr. Olsen, and Sonia our child life specialist. Did you know that when you enter the emergency room at @childrensla you immediately get a “Child Life Specialist” trained to make sure your child knows what happening? And to make sure you understand all of what’s happening and your choices? It made us feel so safe,” writes Bell.

“And @childrensla follows up the next day with a phone call to make sure all is well after the trauma. Excellent care all around. Thank you to all who helped my baby,” added Bell, who wrote that she decided against posting a picture of her daughter’s injury because it was “burger popping out all over and it was pretty gross.” Really, the jelly donut analogy was more than enough.

Bell received lots of love on Instagram from her famous friends, including Justin Long, who wrote “Aw pal- so sorry for her! Also thanks for not including a pic of the finger because I def would’ve look.” Bell’s Frozen co-star Josh Gad commented with a brief “Oh no,” while Zoe Saldana added “Oh no!!!! My worst nightmare. Thank you for sharing this lady.”

Fellow moms chimed in, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, who commented “I’m so sorry. That’s so scary,” and Evan Rachel Wood, who added “Aww buddy! Feel better soon.” But some of the biggest supporters were Child Life Specialists, who applauded Bell for bringing attention to the specialty.

“I’m so glad there was a child life specialist there to provide education and support during your child’s hospital visit! Not everyone knows about us, but our role is to provide for psychosocial support to children based on their developmental level and coping style. Thank you for the shout out and kinds words,” wrote one of Bell’s followers.

“Child Life Specialists everywhere just fell over that someone not only acknowledged us but very appropriately explained our role. You are a gem and I’m glad your little one felt safe. GO CHILD LIFE,” writes a second follower, with another adding “SO GLAD YOUR RAISING AWARENESS FOR CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST!!! I have had 4 open heart surgeries and they are the best!!!!!! I’m actually studying to be one now.”

We’re happy to hear that Bell and Shepard’s daughter’s hand was in good hands. And again, thank you for not posting the pic.
