In 2003, Evan Marriott was known as Joe Millionaire. Now he’s just your average Joe. The former reality star was at The Paley Center for Media on Thursday with a bunch of other reality stars — but if you stumbled upon him, you might have thought he was just a random attendee. Or a reject from Duck Dynasty.

Ready for it?
Crazy, right?! Casually dressed in a white tee and jeans and sporting a wicked beard Willie and Jase would be proud of, Marriott, now 40, spoke about fame and what life’s been like since he and Zora Andrich split their $1 million prize and went their separate ways.
“I went to bed as Evan Marriott and the next day, when I went out on the street, people were literally — this is not an exaggeration — people were at stoplights in their cars, yelling out at me, ‘Joe! Joe!,’ he said during PaleyFest’s Evolution of Relationship Reality Shows panel. “And I’m going, ‘Who the hell is Joe?’
“It just happened — talk about overnight,” he continued. “I didn’t know about success, but notoriety… You can’t explain it, it’s really powerful. It’s really powerful when not just your friends know you, but everybody thinks they know you. They think they do. And depending on how you take it, it’s sometimes not that pleasant.”
He struggled after his reality days were behind him, not knowing what he wanted to do. But he eventually went back to work and started his own business as a contractor. Good for him. It’s been a dozen years. Marriott might look unrecognizable, but is it just us or does he still look kind of hot?
