Attention Little Monsters, it’s time for Gaga Ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-radio. Lady Gaga has been dominating airwaves since dropping her first single “Just Dance” in 2008 and now she’s taking over radio in a new way, this time as the host and interviewer. Starting August 7, Mother Monster will launch Gaga Radio, with new episodes dropping every Friday at 11am PT on Apple Music.Inspired by her sixth studio album Chromatica, each episode will feature Gaga interviewing and featuring music by the "DJs, divas and producers" who inspired and helped craft her latest album. Episodes will also include an exclusive new mix by one of the guest artists."The last few weeks I've been figuring out different ways at home that I can be of service to what I would call the singular global community, one that I believe to be kind in nature, one that I believe to be very special to my heart and I believe to the hearts of many,” said Gaga in a press release announcing Gaga Radio. "And so I've been thinking of all the ways that I can be someone that contributes to the society and the world. I'm super thrilled, excited to have this show and this opportunity to play an incredible mix of music every week…"The first episode of Gaga Radio will include an interview with producer BloodPop, who, along with Gaga, was the executive producer on Chromatica. According to the press release, Gaga and BloodPop’s interview will include the pair talking about making Chromatica, as well as “…the challenges that came along with it including depression and self doubt. Through it all, gratitude and friendship are what made Chromatica possible.”Friday’s first episode will also include a new mix from BloodPop, as well as producers Burns, Tchami and VitalClub, which has already released a remix of Gaga’s lead Chromatica single “Stupid Love.”
In a clip from Friday’s first episode, Gaga and BloodPop discuss the unique experience of making the world of Chromatica in the recording studio. “I felt a much more like mental, emotional release with that record where I feel like I kind of was like, goodbye. Like I love you and goodbye, and everything that I've put inside of you, all of the thoughts, all of the music, all the sound, everything that I've left inside of you, I'd like for you to go out into the world, and I would like you to never come inside of me again,” said Gaga.“Chromatica for me, was the portal that you and I opened in the studio where we would open the portal and I'd go, 'Okay, talent, creativity, voice from above, sign from above, come inside me, tell me what to say, tell me what to do,’ and most all of it was what I was truly feeling,” she continued. “There was really only two things that could happen to me on any given day. I could either write a song and you'd be there to capture it, or I'd be upstairs on the porch and I wouldn't write the song. I would just stare into the open sky and chain smoke cigarettes and cry.”Producer BloodPop, whose previous credits include Justin Bieber’s “Friends” and Gaga’s 2016 Joanne album, talked about his favourite memory from working on Chromatica, which included making “Rain On Me” with Gaga and Ariana Grande. “I just remember you playing it super loud and you're like, ‘That bass line. The bass line!’ That was a good day. And you and Ari cutting “Rain On Me” and you're like, ‘What if you tried this take with some dancing?’ She was like, ‘Huh?’” says BloodPop. “That was amazing too.”After delaying the April 10 release date of Chromatica due to COVID, Gaga released her highly anticipated sixth studio album on May 29. Featuring collaborations with K-Pop group Blackpink, Gaga’s longtime friend Elton John and fellow pop superstar Ariana Grande, Gaga’s Chromatica debuted high on the Billboard chart. A six-date stadium tour in support of Chromatica, that was to touch down in Toronto, Boston, Chicago, East Rutherford, Paris and London, was planned for this summer but has been delayed to July 2021.[video_embed id='1964716']Before you go: You have to see this father and daughter duo's cover of Lady Gaga's 'Shallow'[/video_embed]
