UPDATED: Leah Remini keeps talking and we keep listening. After Katie Holmes responded to Remini’s 20/20 interview emotions ran high. Why, when it was such a short reply? Etalk‘s Lainey Lui explains why Katie’s few words actually meant so much.
If you could say one thing to Tom Cruise, what would it be? If you’re not a huge Top Gun, Mission Impossible, or Jerry Maguire fan, you’ve probably never given much thought to that question. But if you’re Leah Remini, you know exactly what you’d say.
In what is perhaps the biggest offensive on the Church of Scientology since Paul Haggis outed them as homophobic, or documentarian Alex Gibney outed them as completely bananas, or Saturday Night Live outed them as terrible music video directors, actor and former Scientologist Leah Remini is sitting down for an interview with ABC News 20/20 this week to talk about the church and its very own Mickey Mouse: Cruise.
Hated Rock of Ages? According to Remini, that kind of Cruise criticism could get you in hot water with church officials. Doubted Tom’s dedication to doing his own stunts in Edge of Tomorrow? You’d better not think that too loudly. (Clearly there are no film critic Scientologists.)
Thought Katie made the right decision when she left him? Jeez, it’s like you WANT to be scrubbing church toilets with a toothbrush (yours) for the next couple decades.
It’s been two years since Remini left Scientology—a “religion” she grew up in—and her fear of denouncing the organization and Cruise seems to have evaporated completely. We can’t wait to see what kind of message she has for him. The question is, will he hear it?
Probably not. Operating Thetans don’t watch much TV.
