Leonardo DiCaprio has finally spoken up about about that GIF-ably awkward incident that occurred between him and Lady Gaga at the Golden Globes Sunday night. You know, this uncomfortable little dust-up that we’ve all been talking about since:
Was Leo mocking Gaga’s win? Does he think she’s a total weirdo? Was he grossed out that she touched him? After the show, Leo shed some light on his now notorious double-cringe.
When asked about the incident backstage at the award show, Leo and his Revenant director Alejandro González Iñárritu had a good chuckle.
“Oh lord – that’s trending, huh?” DiCaprio laughed. “I just didn’t know what was passing me, that’s all!”
Hm. So just a misunderstanding? Do we actually believe him? Maybe it’s just us, but we’re calling BS!
The fact that Leo said he didn’t know “WHAT” was passing him totally sounds like a second round of dissing. If he was paying even the slightest attention to the award show at hand, he would know that Gaga’s name was just announced and that she would be walking by. His table was located at the front.
Also, the second cringe is telling. Even if Leo didn’t know Gaga was walking by and was spooked by her bumping him, his first startled reaction would be legit. But the second look of “yikes” was totally intentional.
We love ya Leo, but we’re not buying your alibi!
