In January, Lifetime announced that Meghan Markle and her fiancé Prince Harry would be receiving the royal treatment, which in the world of Lifetime means a biopic based on loosely gained intel about their courtship. The made for TV film Harry and Meghan: The Royal Love Story is set to air in May, just days before the pair’s highly anticipated May 19 wedding.
Harry’s brother Prince William and his then-fiancé Kate Middleton also scored their own Lifetime film back in 2011, with the movie released 11 days before the pair walked down the aisle in one of the most televised wedding events of all time.
Now Lifetime has announced casting for the upcoming royal romance film. Jessica Jones and Midnight, Texas actor Parisa Fitz-Henley has been cast to play Meghan, while British actor Murray Fraser, who has appeared in the British series The Loch and Victoria, will play Harry.
Based on looks alone, Lifetime has done an impressive job casting the famous couple, although we do think Fraser will have to sport some red hair dye and blue contacts to truly pull off the look of the ‘fun’ royal.
Of course, Meghan and Harry aren’t the only characters that require casting in the upcoming film. Back in 2011, Nico Evers-Swindell and Grey’s Anatomy star Camilla Luddington played Prince William and Kate Middleton for Lifetime, though we have some updated casting ideas.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin could be a long lost royal cousin of Prince William, but since he’s not an actor we could also go with Harry Potter star Tom Felton.
Meghan’s new bestie and future sister-in-law Kate will have to be in the new Lifetime movie and we suggest Emily Blunt for the role. What’s more British than playing Mary Poppins? Playing a royal.
Should Pippa Middleton also pop up in the story, possibly when Meghan and Harry attended her wedding, our vote is for Alicia Vikander.
As for Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland, who may possibly be walking her daughter down the aisle, our casting couch choice goes to Grey’s Anatomy star Chandra Wilson.
